Statement from Crestone Peak Resources on Fire at Arapahoe County Well Pad

The fire which broke out yesterday at a Crestone Peak Resources well pad in unincorporated Arapahoe County has been extinguished. No injuries were reported, and no evacuations were necessary.

First responders remain in control of the site and have given Crestone personnel access to begin planning for cleanup and to setup containment around the site, but no other work is taking place at this time.

Crestone is assisting state and local officials in their investigations of the incident and will conduct its own investigation to determine the cause of the fire. No information about its origin is available at this time.

The fire was reported at about 1:30 p.m. Mountain Time on Saturday, June 5, at the Crestone location near the intersection of Watkins Road and Quincy Avenue. There are no structures within a mile of the well pad.

The four-well pad was in the early stages of the completions phase when the fire broke out. It was extinguished by firefighters shortly before 8 p.m.

First responders at the scene included the Bennet-Watkins Fire Rescue, South Metro Fire Rescue, Arapahoe County Office of Emergency Management, and Arapahoe County Sheriff.

Crestone trains regularly for incident response with first responders in the area, and we appreciate their speedy and skillful response in extinguishing the fire.

We are grateful that there were no injuries to anyone responding to the incident or on site when the incident occurred.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. Mountain Time on Saturday, June 5, a fire occurred at our location near the intersection of Watkins Road and Quincy Avenue in unincorporated Arapahoe County.

No injuries have been reported and all workers who were on the scene at the time the fire began have been accounted for. There are no structures within a mile of the well pad.

First responders are on the scene. Agencies responding include the Arapahoe County Office of Emergency Management, Arapahoe County Sheriff, Aurora Fire Rescue, Bennet-Watkins Fire Rescue and South Metro Fire Rescue.
